As we all prepare for our end of summer rituals — final vacations, back-to-school shopping, BBQs and hopefully a few lazy days off — we at SDNCentral have been reflecting on the summer of software-defined networking (SDN) and network virtualization and wanted to share with the community the amazing momentum and incredible growth at SDNCentral over the last four months:
- 50,000+ page views at SDNCentral
- 16,000+ people following, re-tweeting, and DM’ing SDNCentral between @sdn_news and @sdn_tech
- 7,000+ unique visitors to SDNCentral
- 1,400+ people following, sharing articles, and comments the SDNCentral Linkedin group
- 100+ Companies and organizations listed in the SDNCentral Directory
- 35+ OpenSouce Projects listed on SDNCentral
- At SDNCentral the number of unique visitors and and page views more than doubled from June to July
This all thanks to — you — the SDNCentral community — who’ve spoken loudly that you value an independent source for software-defined networking and network virtualization information. We’ve been receiving and processing everyone’s requests for site and content enhancements — and over the last few weeks, released our most exciting capabilities yet, including:
- Creative Commons License: To further SDN education and adoption, we made the content at SDNCentral available to all for non-commercial use with attribution.
- SDNCentral Services: We’ve had community demand for additional free, compensated, and consulting services which we’ve formalized and made available to all.
- Localization: With roughly 40% of the SDNCentral community outside of North America or who’s native language is not English — we added Localization via Google Translate – so, we can further make the site more accessible for the international community
- Document Library: We are constantly asked for links to the cutting edge research papers, solution white guides, user stories, and vendor information, as a result we created the SDN Document Library. We are continually adding exiting content to this section. Follow us @sdn_news to be the first to know when new content is posted.
- Interviews: One our favorite features has been the Cover Story Interviews that we kicked off in June with company executives, technical gurus, customer visionaries or other interesting SDN personalities our editors select.
We’d also like to thank a number of people who make the site possible — include Joyceln Portacio our Community Manager and our Guest Bloggers: David Lenrow, Harry Quickenboss, Sarah Sorenson, Eric Carnes, Charlie Ashton, Brent Salisbury, Rene White, and David Hawley.
This is just the beginning — we have some incredible new features, content, and enhancements coming to the site in the coming months.
We wouldn’t have this incredible growth if it wasn’t for each of your. Thank you for all of your support — and please keep the suggestions coming!..
Best,
Roy and Matt
