And the SDN Unsung Hero Award Goes To…

Unsung SDN Hero

In the past weeks nominations for our SDN Unsung Hero Award were submitted by fellow peers and colleagues.  We’ve been reading all of the nominations and it was clear as nominations came in who should be recognized as the Unsung Hero within the SDN community.  SDNCentral is excited to announce that DAN TALAYCO from Big Switch Networks is the winner of the SDN Unsung Hero Award!

Congratulations Dan! You deserve to be in the SDN spotlight, and here are the reasons why from your colleagues and peers:

“Dan has been working on OpenFlow before the term SDN had even been coined.”

“Dan is probably one of the top 5 experts in the world to understand how OpenFlow is implemented on physical switches.”

“He is one of the most active contributors at the Open Networking Foundation helping silicon vendors and switch manufacturers to make their product OpenFlow-enabled.”

But wait, there’s more! With all of the great nominations that were submitted, we couldn’t just ignore them, so we decided to give Honorable Mentions to three individuals that deserve recognition as well:

Greg Ferro & Ethan Banks from Packet Pushers

“They’ve broadened my eyes about SDN and without them; I think a lot less people would know about or care about SDN. Keep up the good work, guys!”

Dan Pitt from Open Networking Foundation (ONF)

“While Dan is known as the head of the ONF, and does have some visibility, the amount of work he puts in behind the scenes just getting companies to sign up, negotiating political challenges of managing large companies, and flying all over the world is not well recognized.”

Thank you to everyone who sent in their nominations, and a huge THANK YOU to Dan Talayco and the Honorable Mentions for all of your hard work and contributions you have made to the SDN community.

Cheers!
